Hello! My name is Rob. I’m a husband, father of five, and a proud U.S. Army veteran. Beyond family and service, my life has been shaped by my love for the outdoors and a lifelong passion for collecting.
For over 30 years, I’ve immersed myself in the world of sports cards, trading cards, gaming, and comics. My journey began in elementary school when I ripped open my first pack of baseball cards. That simple moment sparked a love for collectibles, games, and sports that continues to this day.
Over the years, my collection has grown to include:
Football holds a special place in my heart. Watching legends like Joe Montana, Mike Tomczak, William "The Fridge" Perry, Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, and Reggie White shaped my love for the game. Witnessing the evolution of football over the years has been nothing short of amazing.
During the 1996-97 season, I had the privilege of playing for the La Center Wildcats under the guidance of Coach Hugh Wyatt. His innovative coaching style and deep understanding of the game left an indelible mark on my football journey.
Coach Wyatt is renowned for his contributions to high school football, particularly his development of the Double-Wing offense. Under his leadership, our team achieved significant success, with Coach Wyatt being named Pacific League Coach of the Year.
One of Coach Wyatt's notable innovations was introducing a direct-snap version of the Double-Wing offense, which we referred to as the "Wildcat." This formation, implemented during our 1997 season, was a precursor to what would later gain popularity in higher levels of football, including the NFL.
The Wildcat formation, a variation of the single-wing, has been utilized in various forms across different levels of football. Its resurgence in the NFL showcased the adaptability and forward-thinking nature of coaches like Hugh Wyatt, who were ahead of their time in implementing such strategies.
My gaming adventures have been equally diverse. As an avid player of Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon, I’ve spent countless hours immersed in strategy and storytelling. I’ve also dabbled in Dungeons & Dragons, Star Wars games, and even Warhammer 40K, which I collected and played extensively for several years.
Sports are a major part of my life. My teams may seem like a unique mix, but they’re my favorites, and I’m fiercely loyal to them:
For me, one of life’s finer pleasures is sitting down with a neat pour of my favorite whiskey to enjoy my hobbies. Whether it’s playing games, ripping open packs, or watching others pull incredible cards of their favorite players, it’s a moment of pure joy. These passions are more than hobbies; they’re a way to connect, relax, and celebrate the things I love most.
Thanks for getting to know a bit about me. Here’s to the shared love of collecting, gaming, and the thrill of discovery!
What is the meaning behind Neat Rips Spots Cards?
Over the years of my adult life, I have come to love two things, whiskey and sports cards. I have sat many evenings ripping cards for myself, for others, and with others, sipping a neat pour of my favorite whiskey and enjoying the hobby to its fullest with some great people. Some of you knew me online on TikTok as Whiskey-Friendly before I started Neat Rips Sports Cards. Anyways, Thus Neat Rips Sports Cards was born. A neat rip is the last pour of the bottle. It's when you "Kill" the bottle as in its empty from the last pour. As for the Whisky, I like a "neat" pour. what a better way to put two and two together! I love whiskey and I love sports cards!
